Long Earth 1,400,013 (Earth West) is a settled world in the Corn Belt which is the location of the colony settlement of Valhalla. It is the scene of a confrontation not unlike the one that kick-started the American War of Independence, of colonists rebelling against the civil order and refusing to pay unjust taxes. You'd have thought the Americans would have learnt from their own history, but Ed Cutler seemingly hasn't.
