Terry Pratchett died on the 12th of March 2015; his memorial was held on the 14th of April 2016 at the Barbican Theatre in London. The event was attended by friends, family and fans, notable speakers included Rhianna Pratchett, Rob Wilkins, Neil Gaiman and Tony Robinson. This book was given to attendees as part of gift bag along with several other items as a memento of their attendance. A small amount, now formally named as 'The Little Black Book,' were then sold on Discworld.com with the proceeds going to the RICE Centre charity in Bath.

The other items that were included with this work were a tote bag illustrated with Terry's silhouette, a bottle of Ankh water, a packet of tissues, five postcards in a silver envelope, Dried Frog Pills (a box of mints) and a badge of a sprig of lilac.
