My Dad, with forethought so unlikely I think someone must have told him to do it*, pre-ordered Pterry's biography for me as a present for my 63rd birthday in early October 2022, which was less than a week after it was published. I'm not sure why, but it took me till March 2023 to start reading it. I suspect I knew that there might not be a happy ending. The book is though a joy to read. Rob Wilkins**, is now, whether or not he wished it, an author; and a fine one at that. As I feared, Chapter 20 was a hard read, but it must have been oh so heart-wrenchingly difficult to write. There were tears welling - and a break to make coffee - before I attained the Epilogue. I shall re-read Pterry's later novels with a new appreciation for the effort it took to create them.
- I suspect my brother, though he denies it.
- Incidentally, page 294, the pea would roll. Possibly off the plate. (unsigned comment by Hey Stop 20 Apr 2023)
