Brenda Rodley, Her Grace the Dowager Duchess of Quirm, one of the important city-states on the Sto Plains.

While Lord Rodley, Lady Brenda's son and current ruler of Quirm, has been described as a fat and rather stupid young man, Brenda Rodley is a small, elderly but very active lady who spends much time on the breeding of swamp dragons. She is commanding but not imposing, nor is she arrogant. She introduces herself simply as "Brenda Rodley", and one can figure out her position only by looking at the address on her card.

One of her closer friends is Lady Sybil Ramkin, another swamp dragon breeder who lives in Ankh-Morpork. Her Grace Brenda Rodley has a brief appearance in Guards! Guards!, where she takes care of the dragons in Lady Sybil's house because Lady Sybil is temporarily busy with something more important than the dragons. Lady Brenda couldn't understand what could be more important than the dragons, but she came to help anyway. (The more important thing turned out to be Samuel Vimes, then Captain of the Night division, Ankh-Morpork City Watch.)
