The witch of Sidling Without, who is good with pigs. She is skilled at Pig-Boring, Cow Shouting and Horse Whispering. Her apprentice is Petulia Gristle, an all-round veterinary witch to whom she taught many of her skills.

When the Wintersmith came collecting all the things that make a man, he took some potash from her cottage. While other rural folk had blamed his thefts on 'all the trolls moving into the area' Gwinifer was a witch and considerably more sensible, declaring only that 'there is a strange thief about'.
