Apparently in France a major supermarket chain is called Carrefour.

Carrefour is the French for "Crossroads", an intersection where in Haiti, le Maitre du Carrefour ("Mr Crossroad") is another name for Voodoo god Baron Samedi. So what more fitting Anglicisation than "Mr SafeWay", as "Mr Sainsbury" is probably copyright...

The Crossroad is also where the Devil gave a struggling bluesman called Robert Johnson superhuman guitar skills in exchange for a trifling little soul. See umpteen variations of the the song....
