Silas Cumberbatch

Silas Cumberbatch is an elderly town-crier in Ankh-Morpork whose professional calling was somewhat dented by the arrival of the Ankh-Morpork Times. Years of shouting public proclamations has left him unable to have a normal conversation, except at an eighty-decibel roar. He signed up as a Special in the City Watch, and was in fact one of the first members of Carrot's Citizen Militia.
