I'm three or four chapters, or equivalent of, into the new book. Things happen. I think I can see what Terry was doing here in what he knew was going to be his last book. I won't spoil it for anyone yet to read it. But be prepared for a big shocker in the first thirty pages. And even this is setting up bigger things still. I also get the feeling this last book is Terry back on form again after somewhat losing the Pratchett voice in the previous novels. A worthy farewell. AgProv (talk) 18:52, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

I opined before that I Shall Wear Midnight was his best effort after the illness. He said he'd used up Granny Weatherwax, but apparently he could still do a younger Witch. Humm. I may have been shafted by the Canadian book-selling industry again. Having taken my my order, they now say "out of stock online". I haven't started my copy yet. I haven't read the rest of the Tiffany Aching series before now - simply haven't got around to it - and the idea of the last novel is a bit daunting (but I'm in half a mind to read it backwards, so knowing the future I learn the past). Nonetheless, thought I might share this which came into my inbox today from the Discworld Emporium:

Unsurprising perhaps, but no less meaningful, Professor Sir Terry Pratchett OBE Blackboard Monitor achieved his 10th number one in the UK book charts with his 41st and final Discworld novel - a final Hurrah and 'mind how you go' from our beloved author in a manner most fitting - in words, on pages, bound in a book.

Time enough?

It's more than five weeks now and it seems like time to start writing this up, but I don't feel inspired, nor is there much other input. It's not just that this is the LAST book, depressing enough, but there's so much else in the way. The book is unfinished, the work of a committee trying to piece together Terry's valedictory and managing only to leave bits of Pratchett brilliance interspersed with fragments of other unfinished works and some connective tissue.

The fragmentation makes it harder than usual to grasp themes: Mephistopheles the goat doesn't seem to go anywhere; Eskarina pops in and out to no apparent purpose; baby Tiffany Standish-Robinson just disappears...if only he'd had another few months.

I wonder if Brother AgProv is having similar difficulty - we'd have expected a dozen pages from him by now. No one else is jumping in either. --Old Dickens (talk) 22:42, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Neil Gaiman's report of Terry's unrealised concept of the book causes me to wonder if this book should be considered canonical. If The Author's wishes were disregarded in the final construction of the book, why can other students and fanfic writers not dispute the text? --Old Dickens (talk) 03:52, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Morag's fate

She's a buzzard owned by Nac Mac Feegle, especially by Hamish, although in "Monstrous Regiment" she's owned by Corporal Buggy Swires. However, in she's still with Nac Mac Feegle in "The Shepherd's Crown". What's her fate then? That's pretty important to me. --Ves (talk) 15:43, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
