Talk:Mavolio Bent
Attempting to be very, very, careful about what Wiki entries I choose to make from the new book Making Money, as it occurs to me that not every user of the Wiki may yet have access to the book, depending on publication dates in countries outside the UK. (And for Wiki users within the UK - it's out there! You have few excuses for not buying , although I'm sure you already have)
Therefore I am self-censoring anything that might conceivably be a "spoiler" to how the plot develops, and confining myself to characters and incidental detail. I am conscientiously sticking to what is already known about the book and the characters from the publisher's blurb cited on the Making Money stub page, and editing out anything over and above this - for now... for instance, it's fair to drop a big hint as to the true nature of Mavolio Bent as the cat is already out of the bag in the blurb. TP does this himself - the moment Moist von Lipwig is informed of where Bent chooses to lodge(p231), Moist thinks he realises the awful truth...--AgProv 15:46, 21 September 2007 (CEST)
I wonder how many times I've read this name without noticing that the first "l" is missing. --Old Dickens 23:15, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Re: the panopticon link. While Bent calls it "the panopticon of my little world", it's not related to Jeremy Bentham's idea. It's a mechanical desk that can spin like an anti-aircraft gun platform by treadle power to watch any part of the counting house. --Old Dickens 23:45, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
